DOH: 8 Delta variant cases test positive again after 'recovery'

Eight Filipinos who were previously tagged as recovered from the Delta variant have tested positive again, bringing the number of active cases back up to eight.

The patients had completed their 14-day isolation period but were retested as an additional layer of screening for the highly transmissible variant.

Four cases are in Cagayan de Oro, one each in Manila and Misamis Oriental, and two are returning overseas Filipinos.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said almost all patients have high cycle threshold values, indicating a low viral load and likely no longer infectious, but they must complete another 14-day isolation period.
