DLSU beats Ateneo, extends streak to 17 games

De La Salle University extended its winning streak against Ateneo Blue Eagles to 17 games with another decisive victory in straight sets, 25-21, 25-17, 25-20, securing second place and pushing Ateneo down to sixth in the UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball standings.

Despite a recent neck injury that required hospitalization, Angel Canino led DLSU with 16 points from attacks along with seven excellent digs, while rookie Mikole Reyes contributed significantly with 19 excellent sets and improved decision-making praised by head coach Ramil de Jesus.

DLSU's victory solidified their position at second place, just behind league leader NU, while Ateneo fell to sixth with a 4-6 record after the match on Wednesday.

Canino expressed optimism about her recovery, stating she is doing well and has received clearance from medical staff to play.

The win improved La Salle's overall record to 7-3 in the season.
