Lacson doubts Dela Rosa’s Senate refuge from ICC warrant

Former Senator Panfilo Lacson expressed doubts about Senator Ronald 'Bato' Dela Rosa seeking refuge in the Senate amid an international arrest warrant.

Lacson noted that legislative immunity is limited and only applies during a congressional session for cases with penalties less than six years, suggesting that Dela Rosa's decision to hide may be debatable.

Dela Rosa faces charges related to the Duterte administration's drug war at the International Criminal Court (ICC) and has considered going into hiding instead of surrendering.

Lacson, who previously went into hiding over the Dacer-Corbito case based on existing jurisprudence allowing pleadings without physical presence in court, emphasized that Dela Rosa should not hide but rather seek legal advice.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. confirmed Duterte's arrest by Interpol at the request of the ICC, which began investigating Duterte's drug war for crimes against humanity.
