Sotto bars Imee's arrest, Manuel criticizes

Senate President Vicente 'Vico' Sotto stated that the arrest of Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s son Imee Marcos will not be allowed within Senate premises as a matter of institutional courtesy.

Kabataan party-list Representative Raoul Manuel criticized this practice, questioning its use to protect Senator Ronald 'Bato' Dela Rosa from an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant for alleged crimes against humanity related to the drug war.

Manuel argued that using Senate premises as a sanctuary undermines public trust and wastes taxpayer funds.

Escudero previously stated that Dela Rosa may stay in the Senate until legal remedies are exhausted, but Manuel emphasized that such actions set a dangerous precedent and could be seen as an admission of guilt by Dela Rosa.

The ICC has charged Duterte with crimes against humanity, naming nine co-perpetrators including Dela Rosa, whose names were redacted due to confidentiality concerns.
