46 deaths due to southwest monsoon and typhoons, over 6M affected

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported Thursday that 46 lives have been lost due to the effects of southwest monsoon, Typhoons Butchoy, and Carina.

Of these deaths, 14 are validated in various regions including Calabarzon, Zamboanga Peninsula, Central Luzon, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, and BARMM.

Another 32 fatalities remain under verification primarily in the National Capital Region and Calabarzon.

The number of affected individuals across the country has risen to over 6.1 million, representing more than 1.6 million families, with over a million displaced people.

Relief efforts continue, with Tingog Party-list supporting 2,000 severely impacted families in Novaliches, Quezon City, providing essential items such as food packs and hygiene kits.

The government has provided over P488 million worth of assistance to affected communities while coordinating relief operations with local officials and organizations like the Philippine JayCees, Inc. (JCI) Novaliches.
