DSWD distributes P200M aid for Typhoon Carina victims

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) distributed over P200 million worth of aid to families affected by Typhoon Carina and heavy rains earlier this week.

Aid included family food packs and non-food items such as hygiene kits, kitchen sets, and laminated sacks in regions including NCR, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and the Bicol region.

According to DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao, around 153,000 families in Pampanga, 500,000 families in Bulacan, and 7,436 affected families in Albay, Sorsogon, and Camarines Sur received assistance.

In the Bicol region alone, PHP2.99 million worth of food packs and PHP535,000 cash assistance were distributed as part of its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program.

DSWD Field Office 5 continued distributing additional AICS aid on Sunday for families affected by flooding in Sipocot, Camarines Sur, providing PHP10,000 each to three families with totally damaged houses and PHP5,000 each to two families with partially damaged houses.
