DLSU, UE win Shakey's Super League matches

De La Salle University (DLSU) and University of the East (UE) secured victories in the 2024 Shakey's Super League Collegiate Pre-season Championship on Saturday.

DLSU defeated University of the Philippines-Diliman with a final score of 25-14, 18-25, 26-24, 25-12 at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila, thanks to key performances from Shevana Laput and Angel Canino.

Laput contributed 18 points including the game-winning cross-court kill, while Canino added 16 points; Laput was named Most Valuable Player of the 2023 National Invitationals.

UE recovered from a set down to defeat Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) with scores of 24-26, 25-21, 25-22, 25-14, showcasing Jelai Gajero's impressive return after a knee injury.

Gajero led UE with a game-high 20 points, while Riza Nogales and KC Cepada contributed crucial support to secure the victory.
