PH exceeds 30K daily COVID-19 test target but actual numbers unclear

The Philippines claims to have exceeded its target of 30,000 daily COVID-19 tests, reaching a capacity of 32,100 per day as of May 20.

However, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire clarified that this figure refers to the estimated maximum capacity of all licensed labs in the country and does not reflect actual daily testing numbers.

Vergeire noted that factors such as supply shortages and infrastructure issues can affect lab operations, impacting the actual number of tests conducted.
