PNP opens RT-PCR center to test infected cops

The Philippine National Police (PNP) opened a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing facility at Camp Crame on May 26.

Accredited by the Department of Health and Research Institute for Tropical Medicine, the center can conduct up to 150 tests daily initially.

As of May 26, there were 281 confirmed cases among PNP personnel with 117 recoveries and 4 deaths; additionally, 739 are probable cases and 594 suspected cases.

PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa stated the facility prioritizes testing for police frontliners and their dependents initially.
