Philippines hits 1M recoveries; new cases at 7,733

The Philippines reached one million recoveries from COVID-19 on Friday, May 7.

New infections reported that day were 7,733, bringing the total confirmed cases to 1,087,885.

Deaths increased by 108, raising the fatality count to 18,099.

The Department of Health (DOH) noted a positivity rate of 14.1% out of 50,815 tests conducted.

Of the 21 Filipino crew members aboard MV Athens Bridge from India, 12 tested positive for COVID-19, including two in critical condition.
