Gov’t accepts MSME wage subsidy applications

The government has started accepting applications from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) for wage subsidies to support workers displaced due to COVID-19 quarantine measures.

A total of P256 billion in subsidies will benefit 85% of Filipino families, with P205 billion allocated for poor households and P51 billion for MSME workers.

The subsidy program covers 18 million informal sector households and 3.4 million formally employed individuals by MSMEs.

Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III stated that the two-month program prioritizes saving lives and providing support to sectors affected by economic activity stoppage.
