Comelec yet to discuss Senate call on voter signup extension

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has not yet discussed extending the voter registration deadline in response to a Senate resolution.

Commissioner Rowena Guanzon said Comelec is inclined to maintaining the September 30 deadline, despite senators urging an extension until October 31 to prevent disenfranchisement due to the pandemic.

Senators cited long queues and daily cut-off systems at Comelec offices as reasons for the proposed extension.
