House panel OKs bill extending voter reg deadline

The House committee on suffrage and electoral reforms approved a bill to extend voter registration for the 2022 Philippine elections from September 30 to October 31.

Comelec Commissioner Marlon Casquejo said the poll body is considering a one-week extension after COC filing from Oct. 1-8, but not a full month extension due to other election preparations and manpower issues.

Lawmakers urged Comelec to grant at least a two-week extension instead of just one week.
