Comelec urges 6M deactivated voters to reactivate ahead of Sept 30 deadline

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) renewed its call for approximately 6 million deactivated voters to reactivate their status ahead of the September 30 deadline.

Commissioner Rowena Guanzon stated that voters can easily reactivate through email without needing to visit a Comelec office, with all regional office emails available on the Comelec website.

Guanzon noted that around 6.5 million individuals are deactivated due to not voting in two consecutive elections and emphasized the importance of reactivating to participate in next year’s polls.

In July, Comelec reported that about 600,000 deactivated voters had already renewed their registration.

The Senate has proposed extending the voter registration period amid ongoing pandemic restrictions.
