Comelec to screen COCs, aims for candidate list by mid-Oct

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will accept certificates of candidacy (COCs) from all candidates seeking to join the May 2022 national and local polls, including those previously declared as nuisance candidates.

Comelec spokesperson Jimenez said COCs will undergo a screening process before finalizing the list of candidates, allowing potential nuisance candidates an opportunity to defend their candidacy if necessary.

Comelec chairperson Sheriff Abas expects to release the official list of candidates by mid-October after the law department screens and filters out disqualifications.
