House to brief on DOH's COVID-19 fund handling

On Tuesday, August 17, the House committee on public accounts will hold a briefing to address reported deficiencies in the Department of Health's (DOH) handling of P67.32 billion in COVID-19 funds.

House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco stated that state auditors would brief lawmakers this week regarding these issues.

COA's 2020 report highlighted non-compliance with laws and regulations as the main cause of deficiencies in DOH spending.

Health Undersecretary Leopoldo Vega assured the public that no funds were wasted and noted that COA’s observations are not yet final, allowing time to rectify any issues.
