Chinese vessel conducts dangerous maneuvers near Philippine ship in West Philippine Sea

On October 13, a Chinese naval ship conducted dangerous maneuvers near a Philippine Navy vessel off Pag-asa Island in the West Philippine Sea.

The BRP Benguet radioed challenges to China’s People’s Liberation Army Navy Ship 621 for its close proximity and attempt to cross the bow of the Filipino ship, with the closest point of approach being 350 yards.

This incident marks an escalation from previous harassment tactics and is unprecedented according to AFP Spox Col. Medel Aguilar, who described China's actions as irresponsible and unprofessional.

Vice Admiral Alberto Carlos criticized China for violating collision regulations and endangering maritime safety, while the Philippines plans to file another diplomatic protest with the DFA.
