Chinese man, Filipino teen arrested in P4.8M drug haul in Angeles City

Policemen arrested a Chinese man and his Filipino companion during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Malabanias, Angeles City on Wednesday, April 24.

The operation resulted in the confiscation of illegal drugs worth P4.8 million and a handgun.

Central Luzon police director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. identified the suspects as Zhe Huang, 30, from Pasay City, and Leslie Sumabal, 19, from Mabalacat City.

Seized items included two kilos of blue ecstasy worth P4 million, 12 packs of orange pills, 26 packs of chewable orange and yellow party drugs, 70 grams each of salt and crystal Ketamine, 87 grams of shabu, one box liquid marijuana vape, and a .22 caliber revolver with eight live bullets.

City police chief Colonel Amado Mendoza said the operation stemmed from thorough case build-up and highlighted the city's ongoing campaign against illegal drugs.

The suspects are facing charges under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 for possession and sale of illegal substances.
