Cebu City under community quarantine, recreational centers shut

Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella placed the city under a general community quarantine starting March 16 due to the threat of COVID-19.

The mayor ordered enclosed recreational establishments like gyms, movie theaters, and bars to suspend operations until the quarantine is lifted.

Labella assured that government work would continue with alternative arrangements as per Civil Service Commission guidelines.

A curfew from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. was imposed, and commercial areas were restricted to closing by 8 p.m., while medical centers remained exempted.

All mass gatherings including concerts and fiestas are canceled or postponed during the quarantine period.
