Cebu cities under MECQ, province downgraded to GCQ

Cebu City, Mandaue City, and Lapu-Lapu City started a 15-day modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) on Sunday, August 1.

The rest of Cebu province was downgraded from MECQ to general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions after the provincial government appealed to the IATF.

Initially set for MECQ, the change in status came after discovering Delta variant cases in the area.

Laguna and Aklan were also placed under MECQ while Apayao's GCQ was upgraded to MECQ.

The IATF approved shortening detection-to-isolation intervals to less than five days.
