Fajardo's stellar play secures Beermen's semis spot

San Miguel Beermen secured their spot in the semifinals of the 2024 PBA Governors' Cup by defeating Converge FibersX with a score of 109-105 on Sunday, October 6.

June Mar Fajardo led San Miguel with an outstanding performance, scoring 40 points and grabbing 24 rebounds in his third career 40-20 game, helping the team bounce back from consecutive losses to clinch the victory.

Despite Converge's strong effort, particularly from Jalen Jones who scored 29 points and grabbed 17 rebounds, Fajardo stepped up with crucial baskets and assists in the fourth quarter to lead San Miguel on a decisive run.

San Miguel coach Jorge Gallent praised Fajardo's performance, noting that his player played 'his heart out,' while Fajardo credited his teammates for their collective effort in this do-or-die game.

The Beermen will face Barangay Ginebra in a best-of-seven semifinals series starting Wednesday at the Philsports Arena. Gallent emphasized that past matchups between San Miguel and Ginebra are now irrelevant, as both teams start fresh with Game 1 on Wednesday.
