Ateneo Blue Eagles beat UST Golden Spikers 3-1, move to fourth place

Ateneo Blue Eagles secured a four-set victory over University of Santo Tomas (UST) Golden Spikers with scores of 25-20, 25-22, 22-25, and 25-21 in the men's volleyball tournament on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

This win marks Ateneo's third consecutive victory over UST since last season and improves their record to 3-2, tying them with De La Salle University for fourth place.

Kennedy Batas led Ateneo with 21 points, while Amil Pacinio Jr. contributed 17 points, helping the team bounce back from a previous loss to Far Eastern University.

UST's Josh Ybañez returned from injury but could not prevent the loss; UST now holds a 4-2 win-loss record in third place.

Ateneo head coach Vince Mangulabnan emphasized that every upcoming opponent is championship-caliber, urging his team to stay focused and avoid complacency.

UST will have a one-week break before facing the top-seeded NU Bulldogs on March 16, while Ateneo will renew its rivalry against De La Salle University on March 12.
