De La Salle beats Ateneo 3-1 in Varsity Match

The Lady Spikers of De La Salle University have dominated their matches against Ateneo's Blue Eagles since May 2, 2017, with key players like Majoy Baron and Ara Galang leading the team to victories.

In contrast, the Blue Eagles have struggled to regain contender status after losing star players such as Alyssa Valdez and Jia de Guzman. La Salle has won two championships since then while Ateneo only secured one title.

De La Salle head coach Ramil de Jesus noted that Ateneo lacks standout players compared to the past, emphasizing this point following a recent 25-15, 25-14, 20-25, 25-19 victory on March 12 at Mall of Asia Arena.

Despite the shift in dynamics, De La Salle treats each match against Ateneo with pride and respect for their legacy as Lady Spikers. Captain Angel Canino emphasized maintaining school spirit and honoring traditions.

Veteran player Shevana Laput also stressed that playing against Ateneo carries extra significance beyond the game itself, representing their community's values.
