DSWD targets 1.8M households for social amelioration

The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Field Office in Western Visayas (DSWD 6) aims to assist 1.8 million households through the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Target beneficiaries include those from the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, pregnant women, and various informal workers such as drivers of public utility vehicles and micro-entrepreneurs.

The SAP aims to mitigate socio-economic impacts on 18 million Filipinos affected by COVID-19, focusing on groups like OFWs in distress, indigenous people, homeless individuals, farmers, fisherfolks, self-employed persons, informal settlers, and those under No Work-No Pay arrangements.
