Aklan PH eyeing provincial hospital as COVID-19 facility

A German national was admitted to the Dr. Rafael S. Tumbokon Memorial Hospital in Kalibo, Aklan on March 22 for symptoms of coronavirus but only tested positive after admission.

The hospital has since taken precautions including disinfecting the second floor and quarantining some health workers.

Provincial Health Officer I Dr. Cornelio Cuachon Jr. said that if there is a surge in cases, the provincial hospital will be designated as a dedicated facility for coronavirus patients.

Private hospitals in Kalibo have been instructed to allocate 20 percent of their beds for non-coronavirus patients and convert regular rooms into isolation areas.
