Philippine airlines cancel flights to China, SAR

Philippine authorities clarified that a temporary travel ban on visitors from China and its Special Administrative Regions (SAR) -- Hong Kong and Macao -- applies to travelers but not airlines.

Civil Aeronautics Board executive director Carmelo Arcilla noted an increase in flight cancellations due to public concern over the novel coronavirus outbreak.

Philippine Airlines canceled all flights between Manila and Chinese cities, as well as Hong Kong and Macau, until February 29.

Cebu Pacific suspended flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Shenzhen until March 29, and to Hong Kong and Macau until February 29.

AirAsia canceled flights from Manila and Kalibo to Hong Kong, Macao, and mainland China cities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Shanghai until March 1.
