23 PH cities reach population protection vs. Covid-19

Mabalacat City in Pampanga has achieved population protection against Covid-19 with over 70% of its priority groups vaccinated.

City officials report zero new cases for the past 19 days, indicating low infection rates.

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año announced that 23 highly urbanized cities across the country have reached this milestone, ensuring population protection but not yet herd immunity.

These cities include Metro Manila areas and provincial cities like Baguio, Angeles, Iloilo, Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue, and Davao.

Año emphasized the need to vaccinate other local government units to ensure nationwide protection.
