Philippines' COVID-19 cases surpass 505K, death toll tops 10K

The Philippines' total number of coronavirus cases surpassed 505,000 on Wednesday with 1,862 new infections, bringing the death toll to over 10,000.

Recoveries increased to 467,000 while active cases rose to 28,904.

Zamboanga City recorded the highest daily increase in cases with 206 new infections.

Samples from the mother and girlfriend of the first UK variant case have been sent for sequencing to determine if they are also carriers.
