UK variant: 38 close contacts test positive in Bontoc

At least 38 close contacts of 12 confirmed UK variant cases in Bontoc, Mountain Province have tested positive for COVID-19.

The local government has implemented strict quarantine measures and requested national assistance for additional testing sites and medical personnel.

Mayor Franklin Odsey himself tested positive but is asymptomatic; the town now has a total of 343 cases with 269 active cases.

Three minors aged below 18 years old are among the confirmed UK variant cases, along with three individuals over 60 years old.

The DOH reported that these 12 cases in Mountain Province are part of the 16 new UK variant cases detected nationwide.
