Philippines Secures Additional 17M Doses of AstraZeneca's COVID-19 Vaccine

The Philippines has secured 17 million additional doses of AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine from British-Swedish firm AstraZeneca.

This brings the total number of AstraZeneca doses secured by the country to 19.6 million, with initial delivery set for July this year and bulk deliveries expected in 2022.

The agreement involves the national government, local government units (LGUs), and private sector donors who committed to donating vaccines through the 'A Dose of Hope' program led by Joey Concepcion.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. thanked the business community for their support in securing these doses, which will help cover around 8 million people.

The FDA has yet to approve AstraZeneca’s application for an emergency use authorization.
