Taal records moderate plume, 34 quakes

Taal Volcano recorded moderate plume emissions measuring 300 meters tall and 34 volcanic quakes on Thursday, the highest number of quakes in recent days.

This marks an increase from Wednesday's 32 quakes and continues under Alert Level 2.

PHIVOLCS noted that between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, steam-laden plumes rose to 300 meters and drifted southwest.

The agency warned that sudden steam-driven explosions, volcanic earthquakes, ashfall, and gas emissions pose threats to areas within Taal Volcano Island and its coastal regions.
