Experts: Two doses offer strong protection vs. Delta variant

Health experts and officials emphasize that two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine provide strong protection against the Delta variant.

Dr. Eva Maria Cutiongco-dela Paz cited Public Health England data showing that after one dose, individuals have 33% less risk of developing symptoms from the Delta variant; after two doses, AstraZeneca provides 60% more protection and Pfizer 88%.

The National Task Force Against COVID-19 reminded people to complete their vaccine doses for best protection against variants like Delta, which is more severe and transmissible.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III noted that the Philippines has detected 17 cases of the Delta variant, all inbound travelers or returning overseas Filipinos; he stressed that full vaccination still offers significant protection.
