Philippines records 8,900 new COVID-19 cases

The Philippines reported 8,900 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, August 9, raising the total number of active cases to 78,480.

This is the highest number of active cases since August 8.

The Department of Health (DOH) also noted that recoveries increased by 7,937, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,560,106.

Six new deaths were reported, raising the death toll to 29,128.

According to DOH data, Metro Manila's healthcare system is showing that 67% of ICU beds are being used and 50% of mechanical ventilators are in use.
