Western Visayas police seize over PHP45M in drugs in September ops

Anti-drug operations in Western Visayas during September 2024 resulted in the confiscation of PHP42.3 million worth of illegal drugs, primarily shabu.

A total of 230 police operations were conducted, leading to the arrest of 312 suspects and the seizure of approximately 6,222 grams of shabu and nine grams of marijuana.

The Iloilo City Police Office recorded the largest confiscation valued at over PHP9.93 million for the month of September.

In a separate, recent 24-hour operation starting October 7, 2024, Iloilo City Police Office seized over PHP3.3 million worth of shabu and arrested seven drug suspects.

The largest single seizure in the recent operation was in Barangay General Hughes, City Proper District, where 305 grams of shabu valued at more than PHP2.07 million were confiscated from a high-value suspect.

The suspects from the recent Iloilo City operation will face charges for violations of Republic Act 9165.

Police Regional Office 6 director Brig. Jack Wanky vowed to continue pursuing those involved in the illegal drug trade.
