Vilma Santos-Recto proclaimed Batangas governor

Veteran politician Vilma Santos-Recto has been proclaimed the winner of the Batangas gubernatorial race after receiving 655,034 votes.

She defeated rivals Mike Rivera (532,531 votes), Jay Ilagan (272,677 votes), and Walter Ozaeta (95,946 votes).

Santos-Recto, who previously served as governor from 2007 to 2016, skipped her proclamation as she was not feeling well.

Her husband, Finance Secretary Ralph Recto, stated she was happy about her win but sad that their son, Luis Manzano, lost the vice gubernatorial race.

Their youngest son, Ryan Christian Recto, won the congressional seat in the sixth district with 92,823 votes, defeating Bernadette Sabili (72,976 votes).
