Mandanas defeats Manzano in Batangas vice gov race

Governor Hermilando "Dodo" Mandanas defeated Luis Manzano in the vice gubernatorial race in Batangas, preventing a triple win for Vilma Santos-Recto and her sons.

While Vilma Santos-Recto won her gubernatorial bid and her other son Ryan Christian Recto secured a congressional seat, Manzano was unable to overcome Mandanas.

Partial, unofficial election results showed Mandanas with a significant lead over Manzano, with 804,225 votes compared to Manzano's 552,044.

Mandanas' campaign relied on his long-standing track record and accomplishments in health, education, livelihood, and the protection of life in the province.

Key issues in the campaign included the effectiveness of scholarship programs, claims of Batangueño identity, and the choice between an older, established politician and a younger challenger.
