Villar Group converts PICC into 630-bed COVID-19 field hospital

The Villar Group, in collaboration with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and EEI Corporation, is converting sections of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) into a field hospital within a 10-day timeframe.

The PICC's Forum Halls 1 to 3, spanning approximately 4,000 square meters, will be transformed into a facility capable of treating around 630 COVID-19 patients, along with monitoring Patients-Under-Monitoring (PUMs) and Patients-Under-Investigation (PUIs).

This initiative aligns with President Rodrigo Duterte's call for unified national efforts against COVID-19.

The establishment of this improvised health facility aims to provide crucial isolation space for infected individuals, alleviating the strain on Metro Manila's hospitals which are nearing or have reached maximum capacity.

Villar Group of Companies Chairman Manny B. Villar assured that the companies are committed to helping in any way possible during these challenging times, with the swift conversion of the PICC being one such contribution.

Once completed, operation of PICC's temporary health facility for treatment and monitoring of patients experiencing mild respiratory symptoms will be under the supervision of the Department of Health (DOH).
