DPWH converts PICC, WTC, Rizal Coliseum into COVID-19 facilities

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is converting the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), World Trade Center (WTC), and Rizal Memorial Coliseum into COVID-19 treatment and monitoring facilities.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar announced that the conversion of these three facilities is expected to be completed in 10 days.

One of the facilities is anticipated to be finished within the week.

These conversions aim to control the spread of COVID-19 by isolating patients and persons under investigation or monitoring.

The immediate conversion of the PICC Forum Halls will provide much-needed isolation space to decongest Metro Manila hospitals.

Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles had previously announced the DPWH's task to work with private entities for these conversions.
