More venues in Metro eyed as Covid-19 facilities
The Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, particularly the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, is set to open this week as a temporary health facility for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) patients, with a capacity of 112 patients.
Two other venues, the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Forum Halls and the World Trade Center (WTC) in Pasay City, are also being converted into temporary health facilities and are expected to be completed within 10 days.
These facilities will have a combined capacity of 936 patients.
The government is also considering the Philsports Arena in Pasig City and the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Quezon City as additional potential Covid-19 facilities.
The DPWH is undertaking these projects in coordination with the private sector, including the Razon group for Rizal Complex, the Ayala group for WTC, and EEI and Vista Land group for PICC.
