PAGASA forecasts typhoon development in PAR by Dec 16-22

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecasts a potential typhoon development within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between December 16 and 22.

This potential typhoon, to be named Querubin, could impact the Visayas and Southern Luzon regions.

PAGASA's cyclone threat potential forecast indicates a small to medium chance of a tropical cyclone-like vortex developing near the southern part of the advisory domain during the second forecast week.

Currently, no tropical cyclone is being monitored within PAR for the first forecast period, and none are expected in the next four days, despite three weather systems affecting the country.

If a new typhoon forms, it will be the 17th to enter PAR this year, following a period where six typhoons successively impacted the country from late October to November.
