LPA forms east of Mindanao, may become tropical depression

A cloud cluster east of Mindanao has developed into a low-pressure area (LPA) with a medium chance of becoming a tropical depression within 24 hours.

The LPA is embedded within the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), which is affecting Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Soccsksargen, Caraga, and Davao regions.

The ITCZ is known to be a breeding ground for LPAs.

A shear line will continue to bring rains to Southern Luzon, while the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) affects Northern Luzon, Metro Manila, and the rest of the country.

Residents in affected areas are alerted to possible flooding and landslides due to continuous rains.

A gale warning has been hoisted for the coasts of Northern Luzon.

PAGASA expects at least one typhoon to enter the Philippine area of responsibility before the year ends.
