Tropical Depression Dodong forms, Signal No. 1 raised in parts of Luzon

Tropical Depression "Dodong" formed east of Aurora on Thursday, July 13, 2023, becoming the country's fourth tropical cyclone this year and the first for July.

As of 8 p.m. Thursday, Dodong had intensified and was located east of Baler, Aurora, moving north-northwest at 20 km/h.

PAGASA raised Signal No. 1 in several areas in Northern and Central Luzon facing strong winds.

The tropical depression is enhancing the southwest monsoon, bringing rain and gusty conditions to parts of Luzon and the Visayas.

Light to moderate with occasional heavy rains are expected over Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Romblon, the northern portion of Palawan, Antique, Nueva Ecija, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Quezon province until Friday night.

Zambales and Bataan may experience significant rainfall, prompting a yellow rainfall warning for Zambales.

PAGASA warned of possible flooding and rain-induced landslides in highly susceptible areas.
