Tropical cyclone Dodong brings heavy rains to Northern Luzon

Tropical cyclone Dodong is forecast to bring heavy rains to eight provinces in Northern Luzon as it moves westward.

Cagayan, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Benguet, Ilocos Norte, La Union, and Pangasinan are expected to experience rainfall of 50 mm to 100 mm until Saturday afternoon.

The enhanced southwest monsoon, due to Dodong, will also bring similar rainfall amounts to Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and northern Palawan on Friday.

On Saturday, Occidental Mindoro, Zambales, Bataan, and Antique may also experience 50 mm to 100 mm of rain.

Areas under Wind Signal No. 1, including Cagayan, Apayao, Ilocos Norte, Abra, Ilocos Sur, Mountain Province, Kalinga, and northern Isabela, could experience minimal to minor impacts from strong winds.

Occasional rains are also expected in Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Pampanga, Bulacan, and Western Visayas due to the southwest monsoon.

As of Friday evening, Dodong was located 150 km northwest of Dagupan City, Pangasinan, with winds of 55 kph and gusts of 70 kph, moving southwest toward the West Philippine Sea.
