Travel ban to Cebu City, Talisay City imposed due to COVID-19 surge

Travel for Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) to and from Cebu City and Talisay City is temporarily banned due to rising COVID-19 cases.

This measure aims to provide local officials with adequate time to contain the spread of the coronavirus in the two cities.

Cebu City has been reverted to Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), while Talisay City is under Modified ECQ, both until June 30.

The movement of LSIs to and from areas under ECQ and MECQ is not permitted, as per the instruction of the Secretary of the Interior and Local Government.

The Joint Task Force COVID Shield has coordinated with the PNP to implement security measures and temporarily suspend the issuance of Travel Authority for LSIs bound for these cities.

Police commanders nationwide will be informed to stop issuing Travel Authority for LSIs traveling to Cebu City and Talisay City.

Local police directors in Cebu City and Talisay City will also be instructed to withhold the issuance of Travel Authority for LSIs within their jurisdictions.

Additionally, police personnel from Western Visayas and Eastern Visayas have been deployed to Cebu City to aid in ECQ implementation, with more forces coming from the Cebu Provincial Police Office for Talisay City.
