Torre recognized by VACC amid PNP top post speculation

Police Major General Nicolas D. Torre III has been recognized by the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) for his leadership and reform initiatives.

VACC Chairman Boy Evangelista commended Torre's decisive and hands-on leadership, highlighting his courage, heart, and political will, as well as his focus on discipline, increased police visibility, and rapid response times.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is currently reviewing a shortlist of candidates for the next Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, whose term begins after Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil's tenure ends on June 7.

Police Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. and Police Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III are reportedly among those being considered for the top PNP post.

Torre expressed his readiness to accept the position if chosen by the President, stating, "It's the President's call. But I'm always ready to follow whatever leadership decides."

He has been vocal about his efforts to boost discipline, strengthen police presence, and ensure faster response times, piloting the "three-minute response" program in Quezon City and Davao.
