Shear line, LPA to bring rains, flash flood risks to several PH areas

The shear line and the trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) are expected to bring rains to several parts of the Philippines, potentially causing flash floods and landslides, according to PAGASA.

An LPA was located 630 kilometers south-southwest of Pag-asa Island, Palawan.

The LPA's trough may cause cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in Zamboanga Peninsula, Palawan, Basilan, and Tawi-Tawi, with moderate to at times heavy rains posing risks of flash floods or landslides.

The Bicol region and provinces including Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Northern Samar will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line, with moderate to heavy rains potentially causing flash floods or landslides.

The rest of Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the easterlies, with the possibility of flash floods or landslides occurring due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The northeast monsoon is expected to affect Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Aurora with cloudy skies and light rains, though this is not expected to have a significant impact.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon, which is also not expected to have a significant impact.
