Shear line, ITCZ, Amihan to bring rains over PH

The shear line, Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), and the northeast monsoon are bringing moderate to heavy rainfall across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao on Monday, December 30.

Eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon, including Mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Rizal, Laguna, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and parts of the Bicol Region, are affected by the shear line.

Moderate to heavy rainfall of 50-100 mm is anticipated in Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon due to the shear line.

Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao are experiencing the effects of the ITCZ, with significant rainfall expected in Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, and Dinagat Islands.

The northeast monsoon is bringing cloudy skies and rains to the Cordillera Administrative Region and remaining parts of Cagayan Valley, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated light rains in Ilocos Region and the rest of Central Luzon.

The public and disaster management offices are advised to take necessary precautions as flash floods or landslides are possible in areas experiencing moderate to heavy rains, especially in mountainous and elevated areas.

Previous rainfall in some areas may worsen conditions.
