Tarlac court issues arrest warrant for ex-mayor Alice Guo

The Tarlac Regional Trial Court (RTC) has issued an arrest warrant for former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo.

Guo was initially intended to be transferred to Senate custody after being brought back to the country from Indonesia.

The Tarlac RTC recommended a bail of P90,000 for each of the two cases filed by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for alleged violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.

Senator Risa Hontiveros insisted that Guo should be detained in the Senate as it issued the first arrest warrant and initiated the manhunt, questioning the Tarlac Court's jurisdiction.

DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos stated that the department followed a court order when Guo was turned over to the RTC in Capas, Tarlac.

Abalos suggested that the Senate and the court should communicate to settle the issue of Guo's custody.
