Senate to take custody of Alice Guo upon return from Indonesia

The Senate plans to take custody of former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo upon her return to the Philippines, following her arrest in Indonesia.

Senate Deputy Minority Leader Risa Hontiveros expressed confusion regarding a separate warrant of arrest issued by a Capas, Tarlac court for graft charges, while emphasizing the Senate's prior arrest order.

Hontiveros stated that Guo should be detained in the Senate first to attend a hearing on Monday, September 9, as the Senate's arrest warrant initiated the manhunt.

Guo faces multiple criminal charges in the Philippines, including human trafficking, money laundering, graft, and violation of Senate orders.

Senators anticipate Guo will provide information on illegal POGO operations, given her incorporation of Baofu Land Development Inc., on whose land a POGO hub was raided.

Approximately 600 Filipinos and foreigners were rescued from the aforementioned POGO hub.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is expected to transfer Guo to the Senate's custody after immigration processing.
