PNP starts local absentee voting for May polls

Police officers in Calabarzon have begun their local absentee voting for the upcoming May elections, with 807 personnel participating at Camp Vicente Lim in Laguna from April 28 to April 30.

In Western Visayas, 559 police officers are also participating in their local absentee voting from April 28 to April 30, casting votes at Camp Delgado in Iloilo City.

Similarly, 277 policemen in Eastern Visayas cast their votes on April 29 at the Police Regional Office-8 (PRO-8) headquarters in Palo, Leyte.

Some officers opted for absentee voting due to their duties during the elections, which may prevent them from voting in their registered locations.

PRO-8 spokesperson Major Analiza Armeza stated that over 300 policemen applied for local absentee voting, but some applications were not approved due to deactivated voter registration records.

Police Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas emphasized that participating in local absentee voting is a responsibility and privilege, demonstrating their role as patriotic and responsible citizens.

Under the system for the 2025 midterm elections, voters can only select national positions like senators and party-list representatives, but not local positions, as absentee voting occurs outside their official place of registration.
